Gear Review: Everlast 7 oz. Pro Leather Striking Training Glove

Posted by Ace Of Clubs On February - 5 - 2010

Manufacture: Everlast

Model: Pro Leather Striking Training Glove

Weight: 7 oz

Use: Striking Training/Sparring

Rating: 4/5

The Everlast 7 oz Pro Leather Striking Glove is my glove of choice for striking training. Like the competition glove, This glove provides generous padding, with an open palm design. Unlike the 4oz competition glove, the fit of this glove is tighter. The fit and feel of this glove is snug and comfortable.

This glove features the Everdri lining. You can tell if your glove has the Everdri lining by the yellow inside color of the glove. This allows your gloves to quickly dry.  The other benefit of the Everdri lining is the decrease in smell associated with sweaty gym equipment.  The lining does not prevent all smell but it does drastically cut down on it.  I have washed my gloves in the laundry and hung them to dry.  This does not appear to hurt them.

The glove is leather and such it I quite durable. I have not had a glove rip yet. The glove cannot receive all high marks on durability though. I own two pairs of this glove. One of the sets I own the Velcro stitching has pulled up. While the glove is still usable, it makes putting the glove on and taking the glove off more of a pain.

Bag and pad work with these gloves are quite enjoyable. They provide your hand with generous protection. The one bad side to the generous protection occurs during heavy bag work. The way the glove is shaped causes strikes to tend to push your hand down rather then a locked straight position. As a result of this effect, this glove should not be used by a someone new to punching or someone who has poor punching form.

During sparring, this gloves allows you to punch at nearly 100% and not cause significant damage. Your training partner will thank you for wearing this glove. It causes hits to land softer then a typical 16oz boxing glove, and provides better hand protection then a 16 oz boxing glove.

After reading over what I have written, I can award the Everlast 7oz Pro Striking Training Glove a 4 out of 5.

  2. Very good article. I’ve found your blog via Yahoo and I’m really glad about the information you provide in your articles. Btw your blogs layout is really broken on the Chrome browser. Would be cool if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the good work!

lol lots of of the commentary most people put up are so silly, time after time i question whether they honestly read the content articles and threads before leaving a comment or if perhaps they merely read the subject of the post and come up with the very first thing that one thinks of. anyway, it is actually pleasant to read through intelligent commentary now and then as opposed to the exact same, outdated post vomit which i often see on the net i’m off to have fun with a few hands of zynga poker good bye

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue solved soon. Many thanks
